Two wiki's in France

Vikidia is two years older than Wikimini and both projects were intended to offer an encyclopedia to children aged 8 to 13. However, the two projects are quite different. Vikidia articles are mostly written for children but not by children. Our main goal at Wikimini is to let the children build their own encyclopedia and write the content of the encyclopedia. Adults may also participate but in a different manner : read over the articles, correct them, improve their layout and eventually their content (but in small doses), add pictures, links, videos, ...
In other words Wikimini began with the central idea of children creating their own encyclopedia and this was not the model followed by Vikidia, at least not in the way the project has been evolving since 2006. My greatest happiness would be to make avalaible this idea in different languages. Maybe we could find a way to collaborate on this idea in the future. I think your project is quite similar than ours. Please don't hesitate to have a look at our pages (maybe translated in english or nederlands with Google translator). You will learn more about our ideas and see that a lot of changes have been made to Mediawiki to make it even easier to use by children).

This morning I studied Wikimini mory carefully and I must say that your wiki looks impressive. Especially the look and feel and the extra functionalities of the mediawiki-software (you are using mediasoftware, am I right?). Is this available for everybody?
WikiKids is the Dutch encyclopedia for and by children. So in that way WikiKids is similar to Wikimini. WikiKids started in 2006. I came up with the idea to start a wikipedia for children because the information on wikipedia was to difficult. Soon a projectgroup formed around this idea. The projectgroup consisted of Dutch teachers in primary education (I work at a teacher training institute for primary education).
On WikiKids children aged 8-13 can write articles. But there are also children who already go to secundairy education that can write an article. Those children can also become a moderator at WikiKids. In fact anyone who want to write a article for children aged 8-13 can contribute.
In the Netherlands there are also two wiki's for children, I must say. I hope we will work together in the future. I´ve already contacted them to discuss the posiblities.
WikiKids works together with the national organisation Kennisnet (http://corporate.kennisnet.nl/international). They support us with hosting, advice and publicity. At Kennisnet we work together wit Jan-Bart de Vreede (http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Board_of_Trustees#Jan-Bart_de_Vreede) and Marjon Bakker (former boardmember of Wikimedia Netherlands).
